Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The Deco BE65 is the balanced choice for homes with a connection of up to 2.5 Gbit/s that want a real 6 GHz band without paying for 10 Gbit/s ports. TP-Link's German page lists 5760 Mbps on 6 GHz, 2880 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, which adds up to 9214 Mbps and is sold as BE9300. It supports 320 MHz channels, MLO and 4K-QAM, and each unit has four auto-sensing 2.5 Gbit/s ports plus USB 3.0. Wired and wireless backhaul can be combined.

The evidence is indirect. RTINGS names the related Deco BE63 as the best mesh system it has tested, and Tom's Hardware gave the BE65 Pro its Editor's Choice, but both are North American models with different radios or ports. We found no published measurement of the EU BE65, so its test score is deliberately moderate.

Missing from the product page: processor, RAM, power consumption, a coverage figure in square metres and an update period. The page shows CE and FCC marks but, unlike the BE85 page, no Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 7 statement. HomeShield Pro is a paid subscription.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.6

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies6.5

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback7.5

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.0

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the Deco BE65 the same as the BE63 or BE65 Pro in reviews?

No. The BE63 and BE65 Pro are North American models. Tom's Hardware lists the BE65 Pro with one 2.5 Gbit/s and two 5 Gbit/s ports and a 4324 Mbps 5 GHz radio, whereas the EU BE65 has four 2.5 Gbit/s ports and a 2880 Mbps 5 GHz radio.

Why does the BE65 get a lower test score than the BE85?

Because we found published measurements for the BE85 but none for the EU BE65. The score reflects how much independent evidence exists, not a measured weakness.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
