Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The ZenWiFi BT10 suits homes with a multi-gigabit fibre line, or with Ethernet cabling between floors, where the buyer wants 10 Gbit/s ports without paying flagship prices. ASUS publishes more than most: link rates of up to 11529 Mbps on 6 GHz, 5764 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, channel widths up to 320 MHz, a 2.0 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM and 256 MB of flash. Each unit has one 10G WAN/LAN port, one 10G LAN port, one 1G WAN/LAN port and USB 3.0.

Dong Knows Tech rated the system 8.6 out of 10 and reported a sustained wireless backhaul of almost 5 Gbps between units placed 40 feet apart, using MLO. The same review criticises the three-port layout, the 6 GHz range and slow storage speeds over USB. RTINGS has also tested the model, but we could not read its scores.

What is missing: a coverage figure in square metres per pack, a power consumption figure, and any statement on how many years of security updates buyers will receive. The security suite, AiProtection Pro, is listed in the specification without a subscription being mentioned.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification9.0

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies8.4

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback7.5

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value6.8

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the ZenWiFi BT10 need a subscription for its security features?

The ASUS specification lists AiProtection Pro, WPA3, DNS-over-TLS and a security scan without mentioning a subscription, and Dong Knows Tech describes the firmware features as included. ASUS does not state on the product page how long firmware updates will be provided.

Can the two units be linked by cable?

Yes. Each unit has two 10 Gbit/s ports, so one can carry the link to the other unit and one remains free for the modem or a fast device. That leaves only a single 1 Gbit/s port spare, so a switch is usually needed.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
