What this product is
Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.
One of only two mattresses here where we have the full sub-score breakdown, and it tells a more interesting story than the headline.
Overall grade 1.6 "gut" — the highest-graded pocket-spring mattress in Stiftung Warentest's database. The sub-scores:
- Haltbarkeit (durability): 0.8 — exceptional, and weighted at 25%
- Gesundheit und Umwelt: 1.4
- Bezug (cover): 1.5
- Handhabung: 2.0
- Liegeeigenschaften (lying properties): 2.1 — only mid-range, and weighted at 35%
- Deklaration: 2.5
Read that carefully. The 1.6 overall is carried by a durability score of 0.8, not by how it feels to lie on. Lying properties at 2.1 are behind the Ravensberger's 2.2 only marginally, and the f.a.n. at the same 2.2 covered all seven body types where this one's per-type data is unknown to us.
That is not a criticism — a mattress that stays as good as it was after years of use is genuinely valuable, and durability is the one thing you cannot assess in a showroom. But it is a different proposition from a mattress that lies better.
Construction is an X-Spring barrel pocket-spring core with seven zones, measured by Stiftung Warentest at about 18.5 cm. Firmness comes in H3 and medium variants. The cover is 100% polyester, washable at 40 °C with dry cleaning permitted — the lowest wash temperature among the recommended mattresses here.
Note the test date: the programme was Matratzen 10/2022, published 28 September 2023. That predates Stiftung Warentest's 2025 method change to seven body types, so its lying-properties score was assessed against the older four-type framework and is not directly comparable with the 2025 results.
Prices run from around €250 street to €309 as recorded by test.de.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is a durability score of 0.8 worth buying for?
It is genuinely valuable, because durability is the property you cannot assess by lying on a mattress in a shop, and it is weighted at 25% of the overall grade. Stiftung Warentest simulates years of use. A mattress that holds its shape saves you replacing it early. But be clear about what the 1.6 headline represents: this mattress lies at 2.1 and lasts at 0.8. If comfort across different body types is your priority, the f.a.n. at 2.2 overall may serve you better.
