What this product is
Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.
The value benchmark of the European mattress market, and the model that made "anti-cartel" a marketing position rather than a slogan.
Stiftung Warentest graded it 1.6 in issue 2/2024, tested at 90×200 with both sides assessed. bett1 claims it is the best-rated cold-foam mattress Stiftung Warentest has tested. Konsument in Austria ran a separate feature calling it a long-running test winner.
The flippable construction is the practical differentiator. The QXSchaum polyurethane cold-foam core has a medium-firm side at 35 kg/m³ and a firm side at 40 kg/m³ — so you buy one mattress and choose your firmness after trying it, rather than guessing an H-grade that is not standardised anyway. bett1's position is that the flip covers most body weights, which sidesteps the whole H2/H3/H4 problem.
The densities are honest and adequate. Forty kilograms per cubic metre is the recommended minimum for durability, aligned with DIN 13014, the hospital-mattress standard; 35 kg/m³ implies roughly five to six years of service. Both are published, which several brands here do not manage.
The HyBreeze cover has a full-length zip and washes at 60 °C on a gentle cycle — one of only four here that manage 60 rather than 40. It is 18 cm of core, 18.5 cm with the cover, and Stiftung Warentest measured it at about 18.0 cm and 11.95 kg. There is a 100-night money-back trial and a 10-year warranty on the core.
The caveat is the grade itself. It appears as 1.6 on bett1's own page, 1.5 on testberichte.de, and 1.7 or 1.8 in older sources — different test rounds and product versions being conflated across the web. Verify on test.de before relying on a number. And we have no per-body-type lying-property data for it.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is 35 kg/m³ enough for the softer side?
It is acceptable rather than excellent. Indicative service life by foam density runs roughly: 30 kg/m³ two to three years, 35 kg/m³ five to six years, 40 kg/m³ six to eight, 50-60 kg/m³ about ten. The recommended minimum is 40, aligned with DIN 13014. So the firm side should outlast the medium-firm one — which is a reasonable argument for starting on the firm side and flipping later. Both figures being published at all puts bett1 ahead of Emma and f.a.n., who publish neither.
Which grade is correct — 1.5, 1.6 or 1.8?
We cannot resolve it, and we are not going to pick the flattering one. Different sources cite different numbers from different Stiftung Warentest rounds and different product versions, and the web conflates them freely. bett1's own page says 1.6 from issue 2/2024. If the exact figure matters to you, the €5.90 test.de unlock settles it — and given that it also gives you the per-body-type lying-property scores, it is worth spending regardless.
