Review
What this product is
Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.
The best specification in this ranking, attached to the worst reported test result.
On paper it is formidable: 280 Air Watts from a motor spinning to 135,000 rpm, HEPA filtration sealing 99.99% of particles down to 0.1 µm across pre- and post-motor stages, a removable single-click 10-cell battery, and a tool set covering a Slim Fluffy head with laser dust detection, a Digital Motorbar and a hair-removal tool. It weighs 3.5 kg.
Stiftung Warentest reportedly graded it "Mangelhaft" — deficient — in issue 02/2024, at a €900 test price. In durability testing, the plastic housing melted at the battery contacts on two units.
We are reporting that carefully, because it matters and because our sourcing is second-hand. The finding reaches us through Notebookcheck's summary of the test, not from test.de directly. Verify it against test.de before treating it as settled. But it is a specific, physical, reproducible failure mode described in a named issue of a named publication, not a vague complaint — and it concerns heat at a lithium battery's contacts, which is not a trivial category of fault.
Dyson publishes 70 minutes maximum, in eco mode on hard floors. No boost figure, no bin capacity, no noise level and no battery watt-hour figure appear on the product page.
At €692.53 street against €899 RRP, and against a €580 V15 Detect from the same manufacturer with a similar feature set, the case for this specific model is hard to make until that Stiftung Warentest result is either confirmed or refuted.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Should I avoid this machine?
Check the Stiftung Warentest result before buying, and treat our report of it as a prompt to verify rather than a verdict. The finding — housings melting at the battery contacts on two units during durability testing, producing a "Mangelhaft" grade — reaches us through Notebookcheck's summary rather than from test.de directly. It is specific enough to take seriously. A €4.90 test.de unlock would settle it, and on a €693 purchase that is obviously worth spending.
Is the V15 Detect a safer Dyson choice?
It is the cheaper one at around €580 against €693, with 240 Air Watts against 280, a removable battery and comparable filtration — and it was not the subject of the reported failure. Whether it is genuinely safer we cannot say, since we could not verify its own test result either. But the feature gap does not obviously justify €113 plus an unresolved durability question.
