Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

This wins on a quality almost nothing else in the category offers: it tells you what you are actually buying.

Bosch's own datasheet publishes up to 40 minutes in eco with a non-motorised accessory, and up to 10 minutes in turbo with the electric floor nozzle. Both figures, side by side. Samsung publishes 160 minutes with a footnote explaining it means minimum power, a non-motorised tool and two batteries. LG publishes 60 minutes and, elsewhere, 6. Bosch simply prints both.

The battery is the strategic argument. It is an 18 V, 3.0 Ah pack — 54 watt-hours — and it is part of the Power for All Alliance, so the same battery works in Bosch garden tools and DIY equipment. In a category where a dead cell usually means a dead machine, that turns replacement into a commodity purchase rather than a manufacturer-service negotiation. It also means the machine is already aligned with what Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 will require from February 2027.

The machine weighs 2.9 kg, runs at 82 dB(A), and filters through a metal mesh plus a cartridge filter with a PureAir membrane and RotationClean.

The honest limitations. Ten minutes of genuine boost is short — it will clean one carpeted room properly, not a house. Bin capacity appears in the datasheet only as "M", with no figure in litres. No HEPA class is stated. And we found no independent test result for this specific model, though Stiftung Warentest did test the larger Unlimited 8 (BSS825MULT) at €745 in the same round.

The BCS711A variant sells at €293.90.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.4

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies7.6

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.6

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value9.4

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

  • Power for All Alliance 18 V battery shared with Bosch garden and DIY tools
  • Removable 18 V / 3.0 Ah / 54 Wh pack — replacement is a commodity purchase
  • 2.9 kg and 82 dB(A)
  • Already aligned with the February 2027 battery removability rule

Worth knowing

  • 10 minutes of genuine boost cleans one room, not a house
  • Bin capacity given only as "M", no litre figure published
  • No HEPA class stated for the filtration
  • No independent test result found for this specific model
  • No suction figure in Air Watts or Pascals published at all

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is 10 minutes of boost enough?

It is enough for one carpeted room done properly, which is how most people actually use boost — most cleaning happens on the medium setting, with boost reserved for a rug or a specific mess. What matters is that Bosch tells you the number. LG's equivalent figure is 6 minutes and Shark's measured figure was 11 minutes 3 seconds against a 60-minute claim. Ten published minutes is better than sixty unpublished ones.

Why does the Power for All battery matter so much?

Because in this category a degraded battery usually ends the machine's life. A proprietary pack costs a large fraction of the vacuum's price, if it is still sold at all. A Power for All 18 V pack is a commodity shared across Bosch garden and DIY tools, widely stocked and competitively priced. From 18 February 2027 the EU will require user-replaceable batteries in appliances anyway — this machine is already there.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
