Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

A good tyre that is hard to justify at its current price. ADAC's 2024 test in 205/55 R16 94V rated it 2.7 (driving safety 2.9, environment 2.2), level with the Hankook. It scored 2.7 again in ADAC's 2025 225/45 R17 test and 2.6 in the 2026 185/65 R15 test — consistent, but never at the top.

Its 205/55 R16 94V XL label, as shown by reifen.com, is C / B / 69 dB (class B), EPREL 409105 — the lowest noise figure in this list. Michelin is also the only maker here that publishes a rolling-resistance measurement for this size: 7.11 kg/t, against 8.05 kg/t for the CrossClimate+ it replaced. That is still within class C on the label. It carries 3PMSF and M+S.

Owner feedback is strong: 4.87/5 from 62 reviews at reifen.com, and 4.7/5 from 10,245 reviews across all sizes on michelin.co.uk. But at 118.16 EUR per tyre it costs 24 EUR more than the Goodyear that beat it in the same ADAC test, and 38 EUR more than the Hankook that matched it. It has also now been succeeded by the CrossClimate 3.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification7.8

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies7.8

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.6

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value5.8

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Should I buy the CrossClimate 2 or the CrossClimate 3?

The CrossClimate 2 has an ADAC result in this exact size (2.7) and a quieter label (69 dB vs 72 dB on the 91V CrossClimate 3). The CrossClimate 3 is newer but has no test in 205/55 R16 that we could find, and was last of seven listed in Auto Bild's 2026 225/45 R17 braking round.

What does 7.11 kg/t mean?

It is the rolling-resistance coefficient Michelin publishes for 205/55 R16: the force needed to roll the tyre, per tonne of load. Lower is better. Michelin compares it with 8.05 kg/t for the CrossClimate+.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.
