Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The safest default for a typical 205/55 R16 car that sees wet roads, occasional snow and a lot of motorway miles. In the ADAC all-season test of 2024, run in exactly this size at 94V, it was the only tyre of 16 to earn an overall "gut" (2.4), with a driving-safety sub-grade of 2.7 and an environment sub-grade of 1.8 — the best environmental score in that field. ADAC repeated the picture in 225/45 R17 in 2025 (2.3, joint top), although in its 2026 185/65 R15 test it slipped to 3.1, behind six rivals.

The label data are unusually favourable for the XL version: reifen.com shows class A rolling resistance, B wet grip and 72 dB (B) for the 94V XL (EPREL 1322753). Goodyear's own page lists the standard-load 91V as C / B / 70 dB, so the A applies to one variant only — check the exact load index you are buying.

ADAC's criticism was "slight weaknesses on dry roads at high summer temperatures". Goodyear quotes Auto Bild mileage findings from 2020–2022, but we could not open those tests, so we do not rely on them. Goodyear publishes no tread depth or braking figures of its own.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.0

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies8.8

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.5

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.0

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.
