What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The Rivelia suits households that switch between two coffees — a decaf and a regular, say — because it ships with two 250 g bean containers that click on and off. De'Longhi's German store listed it at 659 euros (list price 799.90) when we checked, and publishes a 19 bar pump, 1.4 litre tank, 1450 W, 9.7 kg, a footprint of 245 x 430 mm and 16 drinks from a 3.5-inch touchscreen, with the LatteCrema Hot carafe for milk.

The independent record is good. De'Longhi's own press release and testberichte.de both report a Stiftung Warentest 'gut' (2.1) and the test-winner slot in the November 2024 test; testberichte.de also lists the Austrian magazine Konsument at 68 % (first of 12) and CHIP at 1.6. Amazon reviews shown there average 4.3 stars from 46 buyers, 76 % of them five-star.

The gaps are in the basics. The product page as we retrieved it does not say what the grinder burrs are made of or whether the brew unit comes out; the 13 grind steps come from testberichte.de, not from De'Longhi. The 1.4 litre tank is the second smallest here and is the one weakness the aggregator lists. '19 bar' is a pump rating, not the pressure at the coffee, and no noise or standby figure is published.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.0

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies8.8

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.0

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value7.0

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the Bean Switch system on the Rivelia?

The machine comes with two 250 g bean containers that can be swapped, so two different coffees can be kept ready. That is De'Longhi's description; we did not test how much of the previous bean stays in the grinder.

Is 19 bar better than 15 bar?

Not in itself. Both figures are the maximum rating of the pump. The pressure at the coffee during brewing is a different value, and no maker in this ranking publishes it.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
