The NICR 790 suits buyers who want a conventional, serviceable machine and are happy to buy it from a specialist retailer: Nivona does not sell direct, and lists the black version at 779 euros. The published data is fuller than most: a conical grinder in hardened steel, a 15 bar pump, a 2.2 litre water tank (the largest here), a 250 g bean container, a removable brew unit, a pre-brew system, a ground-coffee chute, Bluetooth for the Nivona app and an ECO mode.
On the evidence side it is the strongest machine in this list. Test aggregator testberichte.de and trade reports state that Stiftung Warentest rated it 'gut' (2.0) and named it test winner among 11 machines, with a 'sehr gut' for handling, the best cappuccino in the field at factory settings, the fastest descaling programme and guaranteed repairability; the only criticism reported is limited temperature adjustment. We did not see the paywalled test table itself.
What is missing: the number of grind steps, a noise figure and a standby figure in watts. Owner feedback is thin — testberichte.de shows only 9 Amazon reviews averaging 3.9 stars — so the opinion score rests on little data. Nivona's own datasheet and website also disagree on weight (8.7 kg against 10 kg), which is worth knowing if the machine has to go on a shelf.
