Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The 511i Max is the bedroom and home-office option: 36.8 cm tall, 1.9 kg, and at 17 W the lowest published power draw in this ranking. Blueair gives CADR values of 153 cfm for smoke, 159 for dust and 174 for pollen; the smoke figure converts to about 260 m³/h, more than the Levoit Core 300S Pro at the same €149.

The room recommendation of 18 m² corresponds to about six air changes per hour, so it can be taken at face value; '88 m² in one hour' is the same number stretched to one change per hour. Noise is stated as 19–48 dB, although the same page also gives 42 dB for the high setting, so the upper figure is not fully clear.

As with the larger Blueair, the HEPASilent filter combines electrical charging with a mechanical filter for a stated 99.97 % down to 0.1 µm. There is no EN 1822 class and no ozone statement on the page we opened. The filter lasts up to a year; its price is not shown.

Owners rate it 4.6 out of 5 across 172 reviews on Blueair's store, and 90 % would recommend it. We found no independent test of this model.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification7.8

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies5.5

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.6

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.2

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the 511i Max enough for a living room?

For up to about 22 m² at five air changes per hour, yes. For a larger living room the Blue Pure 311i Max delivers almost twice the clean air for €100 more.

How loud is it at full speed?

Blueair's page gives a range of 19–48 dB but also quotes 42 dB for the high setting. We could not resolve the difference and found no independent measurement.
