allnatura allnatura Supra-Comfort Naturlatex

Natural latex at 75 kg/m³ — by far the highest density here — and ÖKO-TEST's top-ranked latex mattress of eleven. But it was marked down for nitrosamines above the industry limit and noticeable odour.

Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The premium option, with a test result that cuts both ways and deserves reporting in full.

ÖKO-TEST 12/2024, published 21 November 2024, tested eleven latex mattresses from €649 to €1,130.50 and ranked this one first with an overall "gut". Sub-ratings: practical testing "gut" at 1.92, with bending elasticity "sehr gut", point elasticity 2.0, shoulder zone 1.9 and body-zone support 2.0.

But the ingredients rating was only "befriedigend", and the reasons are specific: noticeable-to-bothersome odour, nitrosamine levels above the QUL association's limit, and optical brighteners. Nitrosamines — which are carcinogenic — form during latex vulcanisation. allnatura disputes the reading.

And the round's broader finding is the important one: no latex mattress achieved "sehr gut". Eight were "gut", three "befriedigend" or worse, and five of eleven had noticeable-to-bothersome odour. The category marketed as "natural" produced the most chemical findings, not the fewest.

The density is genuinely exceptional: 75 kg/m³, against RG 50 for the best foam mattress here and 30–40 for the mainstream. Indicative service life at that figure is over ten years. It is 100% natural rubber latex, made in Germany, 16 cm total with a 14 cm core, in Soft (H2), medium and Firm (H4).

The Hygiene cover tested washes at 60 °C and is vegan.

Two unresolved details. allnatura states seven zones; ÖKO-TEST recorded five. And ÖKO-TEST found that for a heavier sleeper, the only "gut" latex mattress suitable for all body types was a different model — the LaModula Julian at around €1,040.

At €849–939 depending on firmness this is nearly three times the Ravensberger and more than four times the Bodyguard, both of which Stiftung Warentest rated well.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification9.2

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies8.0

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.2

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value6.0

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is natural latex healthier than foam?

Not on the test evidence, which is the surprise. ÖKO-TEST's December 2024 round found carcinogenic nitrosamines above industry limits in several latex mattresses including this one, antimony in polyester wadding on one model, optical brighteners in others, and noticeable-to-bothersome odour in five of eleven. No latex mattress achieved "sehr gut". Meanwhile Stiftung Warentest's health-and-environment sub-scores for mainstream foam and spring mattresses here were 1.4 and 1.6 — good results. "Natural" is a materials description, not a safety rating.

Does 75 kg/m³ justify €849?

It buys durability — indicative service life at that density is well over ten years, against five to six at 35 kg/m³. Whether that is worth €650 more than a Ravensberger at RG 50 depends on how long you keep mattresses. Note also that ÖKO-TEST found a different model, the LaModula Julian at around €1,040, was the only "gut" latex mattress suitable for all body types for a heavier sleeper — so this one is not universally the right latex choice either.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.
