Review
What this product is
Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.
The SCD892/26 is Philips' closed-link video monitor: a 2.4 GHz connection with what the maker calls unique handset pairing, a 3.5-inch colour screen with 2x digital zoom, and no app. Philips publishes a range of up to 50 metres indoors and 300 metres outdoors, with a footnote that range depends on surroundings and interference, and a runtime of up to 10 hours, with a second footnote: when ECO mode is used. In ECO mode the audio and video link is off until the baby makes a sound.
Extras are complete for the class: lullabies, a night light, room temperature, talk-back and a vibration alert on the parent unit. Coolblue's listing notes that the camera cannot be turned remotely. One inconsistency on Philips' own page is worth knowing: a heading speaks of a 3.8-inch screen while the body text and specifications say 3.5 inches.
Consumentenbond lists this model as tested, but the score is reserved for members, so it does not count as a visible result here. Owner feedback is split: 3.9 out of 5 from 21 reviews on Philips' site (83% recommend, many from promotional samples) against 8.8 out of 10 from 72 reviews at Coolblue, where some buyers mention limited battery life. Price is the main objection. Philips' Dutch store asks €239.99, while Consumentenbond's price list showed €150 at bol.com and €152 at Coolblue. At the street price it is a fair buy; at list price it is not.
