eufy Baby Monitor E21

The most explicit security statement in the ranking: eufy names RSA-1024 and AES-128 encryption and fits a physical switch that cuts Wi-Fi so the camera talks only to the 5-inch monitor.

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The E21 is a hybrid. Out of the box the 4K pan-tilt camera connects straight to the 5-inch monitor without Wi-Fi; switch Wi-Fi on and the eufy Baby app adds remote viewing, shared access for up to five family members and 24/7 recording. A hardware switch on the camera turns Wi-Fi off again, and eufy says that in that position the camera connects only to the monitor. Parents who want the app occasionally but not permanently get a clear, physical control.

eufy is also the only maker here to name its ciphers on the product page: RSA-1024 and AES-128, with a unique key per recording. The camera has its own 5,000 mAh battery, good for about 9 hours or about 5.5 hours with night vision, according to eufy's FAQ. Pan is 330°, tilt 60°, zoom 8x, and two cameras can share a split screen.

The weak spot is the parent unit's own data. eufy's product copy gives neither its runtime nor a range figure; Coolblue's listing shows 12 hours and 140 m indoors / 300 m outdoors, which we treat as retailer data. The monitor's screen resolution is not published, so '4K' describes the camera, not what a 5-inch screen shows. We found no independent test of the E21 itself; Consumentenbond lists the sibling E20 as tested. Coolblue buyers rate it about 8.4 out of 10 from 14 reviews. Price in eufy's Dutch store: €249.99. Coolblue notes it has no lullabies.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.5

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies5.0

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback7.8

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value6.8

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

What we liked

  • RSA-1024 and AES-128 encryption named on the product page
  • Hardware switch cuts Wi-Fi; camera then connects only to the monitor
  • 330° pan, 60° tilt and 8x zoom from a 4K camera
  • Camera has its own 5,000 mAh battery (about 9 h, 5.5 h with night vision)
  • No subscription mentioned for app viewing or sharing with 5 family members

Worth knowing

  • Parent-unit runtime and range are not in eufy's own product copy
  • Monitor screen resolution not published, so 4K is a camera figure
  • No independent test of this model found; no lullabies

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the eufy E21 work without Wi-Fi?

Yes. eufy states that the monitor connects directly to the camera without Wi-Fi, and that switching the camera's Wi-Fi switch off leaves only that local connection active.

How long does the E21 camera run on battery?

eufy's FAQ gives about 9 hours on the 5,000 mAh camera battery and around 5.5 hours with night vision on. The parent unit's runtime is not stated in the product copy; Coolblue lists 12 hours.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.
