Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The lightest infant carrier in the ranking, and the one to buy if you will be lifting it several times a day.

The shell weighs 2.5 kg without inserts and canopy — ADAC measured 2.7 kg — which is over half a kilogram less than the Maxi-Cosi and a noticeable difference when you are carrying it in one hand with a changing bag in the other. The base weighs 7.1 kg but stays in the car.

ADAC graded it 2.0, with safety 2.1, handling 2.0, ergonomics 1.9 and a clean 1.0 for harmful substances. That harmful-substances result is worth weighting: ADAC screens every material the child touches for PAHs, phthalate plasticisers, flame retardants, phenols, organotin compounds, azo dyes and heavy metals, and since 2025 for PFAS. A 1.0 means nothing of concern was found. The seat also carries GREENGUARD Gold certification for chemical emissions.

The significant limitation is installation. This carrier cannot be fitted with a vehicle seatbelt — it requires the BASE next or BASE curv, both ISOFIX with a load leg. That rules out taxis, hire cars without ISOFIX, and lending the seat to grandparents unless you buy a second base. The Maxi-Cosi does both.

Aeroflex foam, a Tailor-tech memory foam headrest and side impact protection are fitted. The approval range is 40 to 83 cm, maximum 13 kg.

At €440 it is the most expensive infant carrier here, for a grade two-tenths behind the €330 Maxi-Cosi. You are paying for the weight saving, the materials certification and the brand's finish.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.4

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies8.8

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.9

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value7.0

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does it matter that it cannot be belt-installed?

It depends on your life. If the seat lives in one car with a permanent base, not at all. If you take taxis, hire cars, or hand the baby to grandparents who do not have ISOFIX, it is a real constraint — you would need a second base, and there is no belt fallback. The Maxi-Cosi Pebble S does both for €110 less.

What does GREENGUARD Gold actually certify?

It is a chemical emissions standard, testing for volatile organic compounds released by the product. It is separate from ADAC's harmful substances screening, which tests the materials the child touches for PAHs, phthalates, flame retardants, phenols, azo dyes, heavy metals and PFAS. This seat scored a clean 1.0 on ADAC's test as well, so both assessments agree.

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.
