Kenwood DRV-A610W

A compact 4K camera whose European datasheet is unusually concrete, down to recording minutes per card size, but owner feedback at Coolblue is poor (3.8/10 from 2 reviews) and parking mode needs an extra kit.

Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The DRV-A610W suits buyers who value a clear datasheet and a compact unit with an optional rear camera. Kenwood states 3840×2160 H.265 video at 30 fps, an 8.4-megapixel CMOS sensor, an F1.8 lens with a 135.6° diagonal angle, HDR and WDR, a 2.0-inch screen, GPS logging of speed and position, Wi-Fi with an app, 12 V and 24 V compatibility and an optional KCA-R210 rear camera. It accepts 8–256 GB microSDHC/SDXC cards (U3 recommended) and includes a 64 GB card, which Kenwood says holds 240 minutes.

Parking modes (vibration, motion or time-lapse) need the optional CA-DR1130 hardwire kit. Coolblue lists the sensor as 1/2.8-inch and gives 120° rather than Kenwood's 135.6°; we use Kenwood's figure. The sensor model, operating temperature, power-backup type and bitrate are not published.

Owner feedback is the problem: two Coolblue reviews average 3.8/10, citing app installation trouble and USB-C issues, one calling the product unusable. Two reviews are a small sample. No independent test found. €199 at Coolblue.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification7.4

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies4.5

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback4.6

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value7.2

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.
