Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The Purifier Cool PC1 makes sense if you want a tower fan and a purifier in one object and have about 30 m² to treat. As a pure air cleaner it is hard to assess, because Dyson publishes no CADR. Instead the page quotes a projected airflow of over 290 litres per second, which includes air drawn along by the jet and is not filtered air, and a room volume of 81 m³ under Dyson's own POLAR test. At a 2.5 m ceiling that volume is roughly 32 m².

On filtration quality Dyson is more specific than most. The filter is stated as HEPA H13 with glass fibre and activated carbon, tested to ISO 29463, and the whole machine is described as fully sealed, the only such claim among these ten. We could not verify it. The filter is rated for one year.

Noise is given as 38 dBA at minimum and 56 dBA at maximum; the unit weighs 4.72 kg and stands 105.5 cm tall. Power consumption is not on the page we opened.

Owner feedback on dyson.de is the weakest here: 3.9 out of 5 from 890 reviews. We did not open any independent test of the PC1. With the key figure missing and the price at €499, it finishes last.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification6.5

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies5.0

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback6.8

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value4.5

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no CADR for the Dyson?

Dyson uses its own POLAR test, which measures a whole room of 81 m³ rather than a small chamber, and publishes no CADR on the German product page. That makes a like-for-like comparison with the other nine models impossible.

Does 290 litres per second mean 1,044 m³/h of clean air?

No. The figure describes projected airflow from the fan loop, which includes surrounding air drawn along by the jet. Only the air that passed through the filter is cleaned, and Dyson does not publish that volume.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
