Bridgestone Bridgestone Blizzak 6 Enliten

The best measured snow braking of the AUTO BILD qualifying round, combined with low rolling resistance from the Enliten construction. Consistently strong, never the outright winner.

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The Blizzak 6 was not included in the ADAC / ÖAMTC / TCS 2024 test in this size, so its 205/55 R16 evidence comes from two other programmes. AUTO BILD placed it fourth of twenty with grade 1.5 "gut", and in the qualifying round it recorded the shortest snow braking distance of the entire entry list at 34.6 m, tied with the Kumho WinterCraft WP52. Auto Express then placed it joint fourth in 205/55 R16 in 2026.

In 225/40 R18, ADAC / ÖAMTC / TCS 2025 graded it third of thirty-one at 2.2, with safety 2.2 and environment 2.3 — a strong result in a much larger field.

The Enliten construction is Bridgestone's lightweight, low-rolling-resistance technology, and it does show up in the environmental scoring rather than being purely a marketing term. The EU label still reads C for rolling resistance, like everything else in this size, which is a reminder of how coarse the label's classes are.

The honest summary is that this is a very good tyre without a single defining strength. It has not won a test in this size, but it has not been weak in any discipline either. If you want the snow braking evidence specifically, it is the strongest data point in this ranking after the Continental.

The label reads rolling resistance C, wet grip B, 70 dB class B, EPREL 1992440, with 3PMSF and M+S.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.5

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies8.5

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.4

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.0

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Enliten and does it matter?

It is Bridgestone's construction technology aimed at reducing tyre weight and rolling resistance without losing grip. It shows up in the environmental scoring at ADAC rather than being purely a marketing label. In practical terms it means marginally lower fuel consumption — the EU label's class steps are worth roughly 0.1 l/100 km each, so the effect is real but small.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
