Bosch Bosch Professional GSR 18V-90 C

A trade-grade drill-driver that publishes both torque figures honestly — 64 Nm hard and 36 Nm soft — and runs on the AMPShare cross-brand battery alliance. No magazine test result exists for it.

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

This tool earns its place for two reasons that have nothing to do with a test grade, because no independent magazine test of it could be found.

First, Bosch publishes both torque figures. Its own manual data table gives 64 Nm hard joint and 36 Nm soft joint — and that ratio, roughly two to one, is what every unlabelled single figure in this ranking is hiding. When Einhell quotes 70 Nm or Milwaukee quotes 158 Nm without saying which joint type, this is the missing context. Only Bosch Professional, Metabo, DeWalt and Makita publish both.

Second, it runs on AMPShare, Bosch Professional's cross-brand battery alliance, which lets one battery work across multiple manufacturers' tools. Together with Metabo's CAS, this is a genuinely European answer to platform lock-in that US-focused buying guides consistently miss. It materially reduces the risk of being stranded on a discontinued system.

The tool itself is a drill-driver with no hammer function — the GSB 18V-90 C is the identical combi version, which adds 13 mm masonry capacity and 29,500 bpm at the cost of extra weight and length. Brushless EC motor, 1.5–13 mm keyless quick-change chuck, two gears at 0–630 and 0–2,100 rpm, and 68 mm wood capacity, which is the largest of any drill-driver here.

Bosch quotes weight as a range, 1.45 to 2.5 kg, depending on which battery is fitted — an honest way of presenting it, and a reminder that a single weight figure is usually incomplete.

The bare tool at €156–163 is reasonable; the kit at €295 with two 4.0 Ah ProCore packs and a charger is where the real cost sits, and some retailers list the same kit at €419. Shop it carefully.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.8

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies6.0

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.6

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value7.6

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

  • Brushless EC motor with 1.5-13 mm quick-change chuck
  • Genuine trade service network and parts availability
  • Weight quoted as an honest range by battery size

Worth knowing

  • No independent magazine test result could be found
  • No hammer function — the GSB 18V-90 C is the combi version
  • Kit pricing varies wildly, from €295 to €419 for the same package

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is AMPShare and why does it matter?

It is a cross-brand battery alliance led by Bosch Professional, so one battery works across tools from multiple manufacturers rather than just Bosch. Metabo runs an equivalent scheme called CAS. Both materially reduce the risk of a discontinued platform stranding your battery investment, and both are largely European phenomena that US buying guides do not cover.

Why is there no test result for a Bosch Professional tool?

Consumer testing organisations focus on the DIY market, because that is where their readers buy. Trade tools are more often reviewed by trade publications, which rarely publish comparable numeric grades. The absence of a grade here is a gap in the evidence, not a negative finding — but we have scored it accordingly rather than assuming quality from the badge.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
