Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

Where most tools in this ranking rest on one or two test results, this one has four, spread across four years and four publications: Heimwerker Praxis 10/2024 at 1.6 "Oberklasse", Stiftung Warentest 01/2021 at 2.1 "gut", selbst ist der Mann 02/2021 at 2.0 "gut", and CHIP 09/2024 at 1.9. That consistency is itself the argument — a single good grade can be a favourable sample, four cannot.

Specification is a brushless motor, 50 Nm hard-joint torque, 13 mm keyless single-sleeve chuck, two gears at 500 and 1,800 rpm, 22 clutch stages, and 10 mm masonry capacity. It runs on Power X-Change, the same platform as the Stiftung Warentest 2025 winner, so the two are interchangeable on batteries.

The weight figure needs care. Einhell quotes 1.22 kg bare, but the with-battery figure is 2.35 kg — nearly double, and heavier than the Milwaukee M18 FPD3 which produces three times the torque. This is a general trap in this category: manufacturers quote bare weights to look competitive against rivals' with-battery figures, and the two are not comparable.

At 50 Nm it sits below the €80 TP-CD 18/70 in the same range, which produces 70 Nm and won Stiftung Warentest outright. Unless you find this one substantially discounted, the newer sibling is the better buy — and that is a useful reminder that within a single manufacturer's line, model number order does not mean performance order.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.0

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies8.6

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.5

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.4

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does it weigh nearly twice as much with the battery?

Because an 18 V lithium pack weighs roughly a kilogram, and manufacturers routinely quote bare-tool weights. Einhell quotes 1.22 kg bare and 2.35 kg with battery for this tool. When comparing drills, always normalise: either compare bare weights across the board or with-battery weights across the board. Mixing them makes a heavy tool look light.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
