Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

This suits someone who has found L-ascorbic acid serums too stinging or too quick to brown and wants a derivative with a disclosed dose. The Notino.de listing describes 20% optimised vitamin C, and 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid is the second ingredient, right after water — a high position that is consistent with the figure. Supporting ingredients include propylene glycol, alcohol denat., glycerin, urea, trehalose, sodium hyaluronate and Evodia rutaecarpa fruit extract. Parfum is listed.

The caveat is the form. A derivative is more stable in water, but the 2017 Al-Niaimi and Chiang review reports that applying ascorbic acid derivatives did not increase L-ascorbic acid levels in the skin. A 20% derivative is therefore not equivalent to 20% L-ascorbic acid, and we found no study on this product to bridge that gap. The only claim we saw is that a week is enough for skin to look revitalised, without participant data.

We could not open SVR's own product page, so all data come from Notino.de. The 5.0/5 rating there rests on only two reviews, which tells you very little.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification7.2

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies4.0

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback6.0

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.2

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is 20% ethyl ascorbic acid stronger than 15% L-ascorbic acid?

Not directly comparable. They are different molecules, and the 2017 review we cite reports that derivatives did not raise L-ascorbic acid levels in skin.

Does the SVR ampoule contain fragrance?

Yes, parfum is the last ingredient in the list we read.
