Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The Max Pro is Ninja's mid-size single-basket model: 6.2 litres, 2,000 W and a stated top temperature of 240 °C, in a compact 280 × 305 × 360 mm housing according to the geizhals listing. That top temperature is higher than the 200 °C of the Philips and Bosch models here, which helps with browning but deserves care — EU acrylamide guidance for fries advises staying in the 160–175 °C range and aiming for golden yellow.

According to second-hand reports we saw in an earlier research pass, the AF180EU was in Stiftung Warentest's 2025 air-fryer test; the grade itself sits behind the test.de paywall, so we score the evidence as present but only partly visible. OCU's public comparator does not include it, so there is no measured gram figure.

Owner feedback aggregated on geizhals is 4.7/5 from 79 ratings, a small sample. As with every Ninja here, we could not verify the specifications on Ninja's own site, which blocked automated access; noise, energy use and coating chemistry are not published in the listing.

At €109 it is a well-priced, compact choice if you do not need two zones and want a basket bigger than the 4–5 litre entry class.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification7.6

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies7.8

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.0

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.0

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is 240 °C useful in an air fryer?

It helps with searing and browning, but for potato products EU acrylamide guidance recommends 160–175 °C and a golden-yellow finish rather than dark brown.

How many people does 6.2 litres feed?

Ninja does not publish a portion count we could verify. OCU did not test this model; for scale, it measured 1,900 g of frozen fries in Bosch's 7.2-litre basket.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
