Review
What this product is
Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.
The DVM71 is Alecto's refreshed entry model, described by the maker as the successor to the popular DVM-71, with an improved menu. It is a plain closed-link set: a manually positioned camera, a 2.4-inch (6.1 cm) colour parent unit, and none of the app features of dearer models. For €89.99 in Alecto's shop you still get automatic night vision, VOX activation with adjustable microphone sensitivity, talk-back, eight lullabies and nature sounds, a room-temperature display with an adjustable alarm and expansion to four cameras.
Alecto publishes a standby time of up to 10 hours in its Full Eco mode and the standard range pair of 50 metres indoors and 300 metres outdoors. 'Standby' is the important word: it is not a figure for continuous video. The link is described only as secure and interference-free; the radio technology, the encryption and the screen resolution are not given on the product page.
Evidence is thin because the model is new. Alecto's page had no customer reviews when we checked, and we found no independent test of this version. The predecessor DVM-71 has 8.3 out of 10 from 17 reviews at Coolblue (7.4 from 10 for the black version), which is an indication at best. One practical warning from Alecto itself: the DVM71 only accepts the DVM71CAM as an extra camera, not the older DVM-71C. A sensible buy when all you want is to see whether the baby is awake.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is the Alecto DVM71 the same as the DVM-71?
No. Alecto describes the DVM71 as the successor to the DVM-71 with an improved menu structure, and states that it can only be expanded with the DVM71CAM, not with the older DVM-71C camera.
Does the DVM71 have a temperature sensor?
Yes. Alecto lists a baby-room temperature display with an adjustable alarm function.
