What this product is
Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.
A smaller provider worth knowing about if you are in central or eastern Europe, where the larger names sometimes offer thinner local support.
ZEN.com is a Lithuanian electronic money institution offering multi-currency accounts, cards and an unusual purchase-protection feature that covers eligible purchases beyond what card-scheme chargeback provides. There is a free tier and the card pricing is competitive.
The protection position is the same as Wise's and weaker than any bank's: funds are safeguarded, not deposit-guaranteed. Lithuania has become the EU's licensing hub for e-money institutions, which is unremarkable in itself — the Bank of Lithuania supervises them — but it does mean the provider you are dealing with may be considerably smaller than its app suggests.
Weigh this carefully. Scale matters for an e-money institution in a way it does not for a deposit-protected bank, because without a state guarantee your outcome in a failure depends on how cleanly the client money can be recovered. Exchange rates are decent but behind Revolut and Wise; currency coverage is narrower; and customer service reports are more mixed than for the larger providers. Load a trip's worth, not a savings balance.
