Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

MET publishes more about its €80 helmet than some brands do about models costing four times as much. The product page states 265 g for S/M (52–58 cm) and 290 g for M/L (58–61 cm), 17 vents, an in-mould polycarbonate shell over EPS, a Mips-C2 liner and the markets it is certified for: CE, AS/NZS and US.

Virginia Tech lists the MET Miles MIPS at 10.01, which is five stars under the thresholds in force when we opened the list, though close to the four-star boundary: the last five-star helmet scores 10.09. We found no Folksam, ADAC or Stiftung Warentest result for this model, so the evidence rests on one laboratory.

We could not find a rating page with owner reviews on MET's site, so the feedback score is deliberately cautious. MET offers a replacement at reduced cost if the helmet is damaged in an accident within two years of purchase; the exact price comes from the national distributor. A sound pick for commuters and tourers who want a light helmet with full specifications. It has a reflective rear decal but no integrated light.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.5

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies7.4

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback6.3

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value9.0

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.
