What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The Laifen Air Pro is the travel-sized option in this ranking and suits short to medium hair, small bathrooms and luggage. Laifen's EU store lists a weight of 10.55 oz — about 299 g by our conversion; Laifen does not give grams on this page — with an air speed of 20 m/s, a 115,000 rpm motor, 1,100 W at 220–240 V, five temperatures and two air speeds, a cable of 70.87 inches (about 1.8 m), noise under 60 dB and a two-year warranty.

Three nozzles are included — smoothing, diffuser and concentrator — which is generous at €84.99. The lower 1,100 W rating is not automatically a disadvantage: Which? reports that some of the lowest-wattage dryers it tested were among the best for drying and styling. What decides drying time is how much air the dryer moves, and Laifen, like most makers, publishes only velocity.

Weaknesses are mainly evidential. Imperial units on an EU store make comparison awkward, the '100 times per second' temperature monitoring and the ion count are unverified claims, the noise measurement conditions are not stated, and on the day we looked there was a single store review (5.0/5). We found no independent test.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification7.6

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies4.5

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback6.0

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.4

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is 1,100 W enough for a hair dryer?

Wattage measures consumption, not drying speed. Which? found some of the lowest-wattage dryers among the best in its tests. The Air Pro's published air speed is 20 m/s.

Is the Laifen Air Pro suitable for long hair?

Laifen positions it as palm-sized and lightweight. With no published airflow volume we cannot say how it compares on long hair; full-size models such as the Laifen Neo publish a higher air speed (22 m/s).

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
