What this product is
Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.
The Dyson Supersonic Origin is the pared-back Supersonic: one styling nozzle in the box, but the same basic architecture, and — usefully for this ranking — the clearest data sheet of any dryer we looked at. Dyson's German store states 13.3 l/s airflow, 629 g, 1,600 W, a motor of 'up to 110,000 rpm', a 2 m cable, four heat and three airflow settings, and temperature measurement 'over 40 times per second'.
That 13.3 l/s figure matters because it is a volume of air, the quantity that actually carries water away, rather than a velocity at an unknown point. It converts to about 48 m³/h. No other maker in this list publishes a comparable number, so it cannot be ranked against them — but it is the only one you can check against a future independent measurement.
The Supersonic line has been through independent tests: Stiftung Warentest included a Dyson Supersonic in its December 2022 test of 14 dryers and Which? lists Dyson among the brands it tests. The grades are behind paywalls and those tests do not necessarily cover this exact Origin variant, so we score the evidence as moderate.
At €299 it is a lot of money for one nozzle, and at 629 g it is heavier than the Laifen, Dreame and Rowenta models here. Noise is not published. Note that Dyson's category page showed 'from €369' on the same day the product page showed €299.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Supersonic Origin and the Supersonic Nural?
On Dyson's pages the Origin comes with one styling nozzle and publishes 13.3 l/s airflow; the Nural adds sensor-based scalp protection, which lowers the temperature as the dryer approaches the head, and five attachments. The Nural product page we opened did not state an airflow figure.
Is 13.3 l/s a lot?
It is the only volume airflow published in this ranking, so we cannot compare it with rivals on equal terms. It converts to about 48 m³/h.
