Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The Laifen Neo suits anyone who wants the brushless high-speed format without paying Dyson money, and who cares about wrist fatigue: Laifen lists it at 390 g, against 629 g for the Dyson Supersonic Origin and 650 g for the Supersonic Nural.

On paper the data sheet is better than most. Laifen's EU store states an air speed of 22 m/s, a motor speed of 110,000 rpm, 200 million negative ions and a noise level of 59 dB. That noise figure is unusually low next to the 78–104 dB range Which? reports from its own measurements, which tells you the conditions differ: Laifen does not say at what distance or setting it measured, so treat it as a relative claim rather than a comparable number.

What is missing matters. The page gives no power rating in watts, no temperature values in °C, no cable length and no warranty period, and the air speed is a velocity, not a volume of air, so it cannot be set directly against Dyson's 13.3 l/s. The '3-min fast drying' and '3x faster than traditional hair dryers' claims come without a stated test method. We found no independent lab test of this exact model.

Owner feedback on Laifen's own store is strong (4.8/5 from 109 reviews), though a manufacturer-hosted rating is not the same as an independent sample.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification8.0

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies4.5

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback8.3

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.4

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the Laifen Neo really quieter than other dryers?

Laifen states 59 dB but does not say at what distance or setting it measured. Which? reports 78–104 dB across the dryers it measured with its own method, so the two figures cannot be compared directly.

How powerful is the Laifen Neo in watts?

Laifen's EU product page does not publish a wattage. It gives air speed (22 m/s) and motor speed (110,000 rpm) instead.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.
