What this product is

The Mini is a short-term carrier for the newborn months, and BabyBjörn is honest about that: it recommends 3.2–8 kg and 53–75 cm, while stating the product is safety tested up to 11 kg. The age range on the page is 0–12 months. There are three positions: newborn, facing in and facing out; BabyBjörn says a baby should be at least five months old before facing out.
Documentation is good. The page names OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1, compliance with EN 13209-2:2015 and ASTM F2236, washing at 40 °C and a 10-year guarantee. Three fabrics cost the same 119.90 euros: 3D Mesh (100% polyester), 3D Jersey and a woven blend with 65% recycled polyester. BabyBjörn states an IHDI acknowledgement, and the IHDI page lists the Mini.
The Mini was not in Stiftung Warentest's 7/2026 test. The larger BabyBjörn carrier that was tested was judged unsuitable for newborns because the leg position could not be set correctly, and BabyBjörn's own hip-health page argues that no single position is better than another. That disagreement is unresolved for this model.
