Review

What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The GOAT O800 RTK is the budget entry: €479 for an RTK mower that ships with its own reference station, so it does not depend on a network RTK service. Ecovacs states 45% (24°) slopes, a 22 cm cut, 3–8 cm cutting height in 0.5 cm steps, a 4,000 mAh battery, IPX6 for both mower and station, and 11 kg. Obstacle detection uses 3D ToF plus a camera (AIVI 3D), which Ecovacs says recognises more than 200 obstacle types including hedgehogs.

Which? lists the Ecovacs O800 RTK among the wire-free models in its robot mower coverage, but its score is behind the membership wall and was not seen. That still makes it the only model in this ranking confirmed to be in an independent test programme.

What is missing is substantial. The German product page, as it could be read, gave no recommended area in m² (the model name suggests 800 m², but that is not a published figure), no noise level, no mowing time, no warranty term, no connectivity details and no theft protection. There were no owner reviews on the page.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification5.4

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies4.6

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback5.5

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.8

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the GOAT O800 RTK need an internet RTK service?

No. Ecovacs includes its own RTK station, which acts as the local reference. The product page does not mention network RTK.

How big a lawn is the O800 RTK made for?

The German product page did not state an area in m² when it was read. The ‘800’ in the name suggests 800 m², but treat that as unconfirmed until Ecovacs publishes it.

Principles

The manufacturer makes claims.
We check what the evidence says.

Every ranking follows the same protocol: an analysis of composition and specification, verification of claims against available studies, a review of verified owner feedback, and an assessment of price against what the product delivers.
