What this product is

Written after the analysis, from the same sources the score is built on: the manufacturer's documentation, available studies and verified owner feedback.

The GOAT A1600 LiDAR PRO is the cheapest LiDAR mower here and has the widest cutting deck, 33 cm, with 3–9 cm height in 1 cm steps. Ecovacs’ HoloScope 360 system combines a rotating 360° LiDAR, a 3D-ToF LiDAR and an AI camera, and is said to work in darkness. Slopes are rated at 50% (27°). The 3,000 mAh battery recharges in 50 minutes at 113.4 W. The mower is IPX6, the station IPX4, and it weighs 17.8 kg — the heaviest here.

Ecovacs states the mower avoids more than 200 obstacle types, including hedgehogs; no independent check of that claim was found.

The datasheet has a key gap for this ranking: the German page gives a mowing rate of up to 400 m² per hour but no recommended or maximum lawn area. The ‘1600’ in the name is not a published area figure. Noise, warranty, mobile connectivity and theft protection were also absent, and there were no reviews on the page. Buy it for the price and the deck, not for documentation.

Component scores

Where the score
comes from.

Four components, equal weight, each on a 0–10 scale and each resting on a named source. The overall score is their mean — the full procedure is in the methodology.

  1. Composition and specification6.0

Declared composition and specification: active ingredients and their concentrations, energy classes, standards, technical parameters — and what the manufacturer leaves unsaid.

  2. Evidence and studies4.0

Verification of the manufacturer's claims against outside sources: laboratory reports, industry testing, safety data sheets, certificates and regulatory decisions.

  3. Owner feedback5.5

Analysis of verified reviews written after extended use, together with recurring fault reports for the model or series.

  4. Cost and value8.6

Price set against what the product actually delivers, plus costs incurred later — consumables, energy, servicing, subscriptions — over the lifespan typical for the category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What lawn size is the GOAT A1600 LiDAR PRO for?

Ecovacs’ German page only gives a mowing rate of up to 400 m² per hour. No recommended or maximum area is published, so the ‘1600’ in the name should not be read as a confirmed m² rating.

Can it mow in the dark?

Ecovacs says the LiDAR navigation works in darkness. Wildlife researchers and Which? advise against mowing at night because hedgehogs are active then.
